The Society Cooperates with WHO and Engages Actively
in Other International Activities

Through Japan ICD Office in the Statistics and Information Department of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare as a liaison office, JHIM is actively supporting and cooperating with WHO for improvement and implementation of ICD.
These activities include:

1.Implementation and education of ICD;
2.Making proposals for ICD-10 updates;
3.The 11th revision of ICD; and
4.Asia-Pacific Network of the WHO Family of International Classifications (WHO-FIC).

On September 9, 2011, a consortium of five organizations in Japan, including JHIM, was designated as the Collaborating Centre for the WHO-FIC in Japan by the Regional Director of the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific. JHIM plays an essential role within the collaborating centre.
JHIM has also been serving on the Executive Board of the International Federation of Health Information Management Associations (IFHIMA) from 2010 to 2016, and as the officeholder, together with the Netherlands, of the Co-Chair of the WHO-FIC Education and Implementation Committee (EIC) from 2014.
